Message: We Is Greater Than Me

Everything is better together! WE is greater than ME! In our culture, we highlight the leader, hero, or superstar… Yet, big accomplishments rarely achieved alone—it takes people!

Ecclesiastes 4:9 Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. 10 For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! 11 Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? 12 And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

  • Work together (“good reward for their toil.”) [Let’s get it done!]
  • ENCOURAGE each other (“if they fall, one will lift up”) [I am here with you!]
  • Provide for and care for each other (“they keep warm”) [You are not alone!]
  • Take on challenges together (“two will withstand him”) [I have your back]

Just because I feel INVISIBLE does not mean that I am INSIGNIFICANT! Someone might not SEE or ACKNOWLEDGE my contribution but that does not mean they do not FEEL or EXPERIENCE what I do! Your contribution matters.

We is greater than me because WE CAN DO MORE than me. WE MAKES THE LOAD LIGHTER… than just me carrying it.

Message: Thank You Jesus

We have every reason to say “thank you” to Jesus:

  • God has saved us from hell even though we didn’t deserve it. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. • Romans 5:8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
  • He has adopted and we can know. John 17:3 And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.
  • He has set us free from addictions and things that would destroy us.
  • He takes care of us and blesses us. We don’t have to worry or stress about surviving.
  • He has given us LIFE… PURPOSE… HOPE… A FUTURE!
  • It is easy to be fixated on what you do not have and then miss what you do have!

When is the last time you stopped to genuinely say, “Thank you Jesus!”?

Message: Forgiven Forgiver

Given enough time, conflict will occur. People purposefully or inadvertently hurt one another. Yet, it is important that we approach the resolution of those situations properly.

“Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you” (Colossians 3:13).

  • We must learn to get along well with one another—be patient and flexible.
  • We must forgive, let go of, and forget any issues we have/hold against another believer.
  • We must forgive in the SAME WAY that God forgives us!
  • Isn’t it awesome that God treats us better than we treat one another! He forgives and forgets offenses when we repent. He is patient with us. He does not gossip about us to others. He loves us unconditionally. In fact, even his discipline is based on love not on revenge.

Message: Guard Your Heart

One routine I enjoy doing for my devotional and prayer time is to read a chapter in Proverbs. I really like Proverbs 4:23 (ESV): Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.

Notice the impact of its meaning when read in its context…

Proverbs 4:20 (NLT) My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words. 21 Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart, 22 for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body. 23 Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. 24 Avoid all perverse talk; stay away from corrupt speech. 25 Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you. 26 Mark out a straight path for your feet; stay on the safe path. 27 Don’t get sidetracked; keep your feet from following evil.

One thing I should take extremely serious—no matter what my stage of life—is to guard my heart well!

  • Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.”
  • To KEEP is to GUARD. It is to WATCH or PROTECT. It is to PAY ATTENTION to any threats. It is to SHIELD from harm.
  • With all VIGILANCE is like guarding a prisoner you do not want to escape or keeping watch of something very valuable that you don’t want damaged or stolen.
  • Example: Football player running with ball. The more he is guarded, the farther he can go.
  • My most valuable asset in life is my HEART CONDITION!
  • Why? It directly influences how I VIEW life and how EFFECTIVE I am in life.

In the Bible, the heart represents the CORE of who I am.

  • It represents my inner self, my intellect (issues involving my mind), my emotions (how I feel about things), and my will (my desires, motivation, purpose, resolve, or ability to choose).
  • The heart thinks and feels, remembers and desires, and chooses a course of action.
  • My heart—my heart condition—is impacted by what I think about, what I talk about, what I look at, and where I go (or what I experience).
  • Inversely, if I carefully guard my heart then it will guide my thoughts, my words, my dreams, my desires, my experiences, and so.

Message: Everyone Everywhere

Luke 19:10 “For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.”

Jesus came to seek and save the lost.

  • The lost are those without a saving relationship with Jesus.
  • The lost are more than people like me or that I like.
  • Not just people who look, act, or think like me. They are more than well to do, educated, put together people…

EVERYONE EVERYWHERE deserves the opportunity to hear about Jesus! And everyone needs Jesus.

You matter to God!
